The main characteristic of a sleeved plug valve is that the plug is surrounded by a completely encased rubber or elastomer sleeve. This sleeve also serves as a bearing surface in the valve. As there is no direct metal-to-metal contact within the valve, wear is minimized and the operating torque is reduced significantly. The sleeved plug valve can operate smoothy and requires low torque, which is beneficial, even after several years.
The valve does not require any lubrication. This design is ideal for applications like water, slurry, chemicals, and corrosive mediums as it will result in no contamination. The highly resilient sleeve can also withstand chemicals well. It is resistant to abrasion, ensures bubble tight shutoff performance, and is suitable for challenging media.
